The team
A small, deliberate team — each stylist at Riverdspark carries a full book of clients they know by name, habit, and hair history.
We cap our team at a size where every stylist can give every client real attention.
Riverdspark keeps a core team of five licensed stylists, each with a distinct specialization — from editorial colour to corrective cutting to advanced skincare. When you book for the first time, your intake form helps match you with the stylist whose skills align most closely with what you're after. Over subsequent visits, that stylist builds a file on your hair and skin history so future sessions start with context, not from scratch. We hold quarterly in-studio training days and attend at least one industry event per year to stay current on techniques — particularly in colour chemistry and skin barrier science, two areas where the science genuinely evolves. Our studio on Portage Ave is intentionally small: five stations, soft indigo accent lighting, and no back-to-back bookings that rush anyone out the door.
Each profile reflects a real specialization — not a generic bio.

Eight years of balayage, lived-in colour, and corrective work. Maya trained in Vancouver before joining Riverdspark in 2019 and has since become the stylist clients call when other salons have made a mess of their colour. She uses a light-reading process — checking colour shifts under the studio's indigo-accent lamps and natural window light — before any formula is mixed.

Trained in precision cutting at a Toronto academy, Sam specializes in geometric bobs, textured layers, and cuts designed around natural curl and wave patterns. She's the first stylist clients are matched with when they're new to Riverdspark and unsure where to start — her consultations are thorough and her honesty about what a cut can and can't do has earned her a fully booked schedule six months out.

Theo holds dual certification in esthetics and nail technology and brings a clinical approach to both services. His extended skincare sessions are particularly sought-after by clients dealing with Winnipeg's notoriously dry winter conditions. He coordinates every nail shade and skincare recommendation with the client's current hair colour so the overall effect reads as considered rather than assembled.
“I was matched with Theo after explaining I had combination skin and no idea what nail colours suited me. He asked about my wardrobe, held about six shades against my wrist under different light, and landed on one I never would have picked myself. I've used it three times since. That's the kind of detail that makes the difference.”
